This is our first blog for Chinook Services so I would like to blog about our company and about Chinook Services success.  I am an owner of Chinook services and The Maids.  My name is Jay Bjorn.  I live in Everett Washington in the Silver Lake neighborhood.  I'm a father of a beautiful daughter born 10-24-13 named Gretchen.  The mother of Gretchen Kendra, is my fiance and works in the office.  Chinook Services is owned by two others then myself. My mother Dianne Bjorn and my father Mike Bjorn of Mill Creek Washington.

  We started our cleaning business in 1994 named The Maids.  One day Mike saw a franchise opportunity in the Wall Street Journal.  He requested more information and we got a VHS video in the mail a few days later.  We watched the video together and he asked me "should we do it?"  I replied "Yes".  I was only 13 years old at the time, but the video was very inspiring and we liked it a lot.  Mike at the time was working in Seattle as a scientist and wanted a change. He went to the University of Washington and had a business degree.


He always wanted to have his own company one day.  We signed up, and both Mike and Dianne went to Omaha to the Maids corporate headquarters for training. From 1994-2000 Dianne ran The Maids with great success.  Mike joined the team in 2000 because the company was growing at a fast rate.

In the year 2000 I graduated from Henry M. Jackson High school.  I started painting houses for a local company as a part time job.  The Maids was growing at a fast rate with 30 employees and hundreds of regular customers served at least once a month.  There was a demand from our client base to clean their windows.  Our Maid's staff was not able to perform high ladder work and with my painting experience I was able to use the skills I obtained to clean windows.  We got serious about cleaning residential windows and started Chinook Services a special projects division of The Maids in 2002.  Instantly we received a ton of work from The Maids client base.  We also marketed Chinook with print ads, and a yellow page ad to start.  We grew from my self to five full time Chinook employees by 2006.

The Maids had grown from 30 employees to almost 50 by 2008. The company received franchise of the year in 2004 and were among the top 10 franchises in the country out of 150.  The cleaning system that The Maids uses is superior compared to other companies in the area.  This is what I believe contributed to most of our success is the Maid's system.  Today we have almost 70 full time employees.  The Maids offers house cleaning in teams of 3-4 maids.   Chinook Services offers window cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and handyman services.  We provide our services to residential and commercial clients.
